Amber thichangthong- Marketing & Outreach

Born and raAmber Thichangthongised in Fairfax County, Amber Thichangthong is a 2011 graduate of the Social Innovation Program.  She is a senior at Old Dominion University and will graduate in August 2012 with a B.A in English/Professional Writing and minor in Community Health. 

During her 3 years at ODU, Amber was an active student leader and held executive board positions for the 2012 Class Council, the Student Activities Council, and the Asian Pacific American Student Union (APASU).  Her work as a Program Assistant for the Center for Service and Civic Engagement (CSCE), a component of the Office of Student Activities and Leadership, jumpstarted and peaked her passion for social entrepreneurship.  

She was a 2010-2011 Pearson Student Advisory Board (PSAB) for Pearson Students and was energized to learn about Pearson's commitment to its students and notice of social entrepreneurship.  Since 2010, they award college changemakers $10,000 for their service to the community. Alongside this internship, Amber will work as the Administrative Support Specialist for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association

This semester, Amber will use her past experiences to develop integrated marketing and outreach strategies for the Social Innovation Program and the Speakers' Bureau while maintaining the Center's social media and online presence.

FRANK PETRICOINCAMPUS OUTREACH 

Frank Petricoin is the Founder and CEO of Bindle Bags Inc. His involvement with the homeless community dates back to his early childhood, where he partook in family coat drives, traveling throughout the Washington D.C. area handing coats and blankets to the homeless, and volunteered his time with his mother at various shelters in the Washington D.C. suburbs.

Since then, Frank has been an avid student, studying Philosophy at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and Social Entrepreneurship at George Mason University. In his spare time, Frank enjoys spending time with family and friends, caring for Dexter, his puppy, and reading.

The Mason Center forSocial Entrepreneurship internship program provides college students and recent graduates with a valuable opportunity to learn about the Center's work while gaining professional experience at a cutting edge social enterprise. Center interns spend their time working on interesting, substantive projects, and interns often make long-lasting and beneficial professional contacts in the non-profit and academic sectors. We hire both paid and unpaid interns, and we are flexible about work locations and hours.
